There are several websites that list free wi-fi spots by state and city. Some of these sites allow you to enter your favorite sites thus adding to their database of places to find free wi-fi. Here are a couple to get you started:

Some of these locations are lovely coffee shops where you can hang out.
It is also possible to sit in the parking lot in your rig after closing hours and still use the internet on those spots where the hotspot is not protected by password.
